The Process: How Does it Work?
The process of using this restoration kit is straightforward and can be broken down into four simple steps:
- Clean the Headlights: Start by washing the headlight lens with soap and water to remove any dirt or grime that can interfere with the restoration process.
- Sand the Headlights: Attach the 500 grit sanding disc to an electric drill included in the kit. Begin sanding horizontally along one side of your headlight until you see a white froth building up. Then switch sides until all surfaces are evenly sanded.
- < strong > Polish : Replace the 500 grit sanding disc with 800 grit disc and continue sanding vertically until all surfaces are smooth. Repeat this step with 3000 grit disc until there are no visible scratches left on your lenses.
- < strong > Buff : Attach buffing pad provided in a kit to an electric drill (use different drills than used in previous steps) . Apply rubbing compound onto buffing pad before starting buffing process.
Note: Before starting buffing process cover your car’s paint with any cloth or newspaper just incase rubbing compound spills out.
Now start buffinng using electric drill at medium speed (not too fast). Spread rubbing compound evenly around head light lens using buffer pad.
Buff until there is no yellowish surface left on lens which means it has removed all oxidation from your lens.
Once done remove rubbing compound by wiping off using dry cloth.
Congratulations! You have successfully restored your headlights.
- < strong > Final Touches : To prevent future oxidation which causes yellowish look on head light lenses apply UV protector provided in a kit. Cover entire lenes untill it turns clear then use dry cloth wipe off excess UV protector left on lenses.
That’s it! You now have crystal clear headlights ready for safe driving at night.
Tips for Best Results:
- You can use a spray bottle filled with water while sanding to keep lenses wet which will help reduce scratches formation while sanding.
- If you come across deep scratches while restoring don’t
